Where to Stay in Dahab?
Article includes introduction and hotel reviews
From the moment you step off the bus (read how to get to Dahab) at Dahab bus station you’ll be met by reps with transport, eager to lure you back to their hotel, hostel, or guest house.
Traditionally a hub for independent travellers, no where has such an abundance of decent budget accommodation; so owners are eager to win your business.
Significant developed has taken place in Dahab since 1982 and with it, prices have risen.
While fans fear that Dahab will one day go the way of Sharm el Sheikh, for the time being it retains its ‘beach bum’ soul and an en suite room with a sea view is still unlikely to cost you more than 10€ per night.
Ninety percent of the accommodation is located in Assalah, often alongside the restaurants, cafes and dive centres that dominate the area. There are also a growing number of establishments on the high street that run parallel to the sea.
So if you take a ride with a rep to one of these hotels and find it doesn’t quite meet your expectations, you’re just a short stroll away from twenty or thirty more.
If you prefer to have things organised when you arrive in town or plan to arrive in peak season, it's highly recommended that you reserve a room in advance.
Below are a few reviews from various hotels and pensions that the author has enjoyed over the years. You can book a room at any of these by clicking the below link.
Dahab Hotel Reviews
Jasmine Pension
A unique little guest with half a dozen or so rooms located on the seashore at the tail end of the cornice. Although beach access is limited throughout Dahab, Jasmine has a two story ‘Arisha’ (Bedouin, cushioned garden) where travellers can fully recline in the sun or shade. Food is good too, the pancake breakfast coming highly recommended.
At Jasmine you are just a five minute walk from the centre of town and the main beach strip.

The Star of Dahab
If Jasmine is full, the Star of Dahab is a more modern development a couple of doors along. Although it has less character than Jasmine, it can offer newer, more upmarket rooms (with fridge, TV, balcony, etc) at slightly increased prices.
It’s also just a stone’s throw from seashore and has easy access to the cushioned areas of Jasmine and its other neighbours.
The Star of Dahab is affiliated with Big Blue Dive School which is located within its grounds. So there are always a number of divers/wannabe divers checked in there at any one time.

BishiBishi Garden Village
With a selection of private rooms with shared/en suite facilities, Bishibishi has something more of a hostel vibe and has long been a meeting place for young backpackers.
The rooms here are cheap and cheerful, the real selling point being the entertaining staff and the central, shady garden conducive to social interaction. The pizza’s not bad too.
Bishibishi is located back from the shore on the main road that runs parallel to it. So you’re still just minutes way.

Hotel Jowhara
Also located on the high street just a few doors away from BishiBishi, Hotel Jowhara (meaning ‘the Jewel of Dahab’) is a very pleasant oasis of calm that feels far more remote than it actually is.
If you want to be minutes away from hustle bustle, but sleep well and wake in tranquillity, then you could do a lot worse than Hotel Jowhara.
Bedouin run for more than 20 years, Jowhara is a former campsite now consisting of some 55 clean and modern rooms. It’s excellent value for money and located close to many of Dahab’s cheaper eateries.
