Where to Stay in Taba
Guide to Accommodation in Taba
Accommodation in Taba is split into two main areas:
Taba town, where there are a small number of five-star hotels on the border, and Taba Heights, an exclusive resort featuring all of the major five-star hotel chains including the Mariot, The Hyatt, The Intercontinental and Sofitel.
There is very little independent accommodation available in the area as it is really gauged towards a certain price bracket. Those searching for an alternative experience tend to head down the coast to Nuweiba or Dahab.
However, 6 kms out of Taba is a real gem. The Tobya Boutique hotel lies on both sides of the road and cannot be missed as you suddenly find yourself driving through a mass of trees and plants. The beach is located on one side of the road but can be accessed by a tiled underpass and is exceptionally beautiful and well-kept.
The hotel is also exceptional- built with an abundance of stone and wood, and organized into many small niches giving a cozy and homely feel, decorated with Egyptian statues, tapestries and carpets.
There are rooms ranging from suites with kitchen facilities, through to standard double and twin rooms, with either pool or beach view (on the upper terrace). There are two pools, two restaurants, a casino (in peak times) and bar with baby grand piano and dance floor. The service is personal and professional and the hotel itself is both beautiful and clean.
After the hotel, you will come to the checkpoint (where the road goes left to Nuweiba or right to Cairo) and then there are just mountains until you reach Taba Heights and after this, the next area of independent camps is Bir Sweer (30 kms from Taba and classed as Nuweiba).
