March in Egypt
Weather and Temperatures
March is an extremely pleasant time to visit Egypt. The weather is good but not relentless as it can be later in the year. The resorts of Sinai are quieter than they are in January and February, and the cooler breeze means that sightseeing can still be comfortably accomplished without the need for super early starts or long midday siestas.
Sping is also a good time for hiking in Egypt and ideal for excursion into the Western desert.
The northern cities remain coolest with temperatures typically between 13-21 ̊ C in Alexandria and 11-24 ̊ C in Cairo.
Hurghada temperature wavers between 12-23 ̊ C and Aswan starts heating up nicely with temperatures traditionally ranging from 14-31 ̊ C. Sharm el Sheikh will likely see temperatures of between 14-25 ̊ C with inland Sinai being cooler.
Spring is also the time when the 'Khamsin' Wind blows from the desert in the South. The Khamsin wind is a suffocatingly hot desert wind that brings with it sand and dust and debris and more.
Khamsin is arabic for 'fifty' as it said to blow for fifty days. The reality is that during early April and sometimes early March it actually blows for a few hours once or twice a week.
